Vermont’s total sports betting handle for August came to more than $11.31 million, the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery has reported.

In-state bettors placed 327,582 wagers throughout August, resulting in a handle of $7.79 million. Out-of-state bettors made 103,214 bets the same month, making up the remaining handle of $3.52 million. The average bet size was about $26.

In August, Vermont’s adjusted gross sports wagering revenue reached $856,707, representing a 25.59 percent month-on-month decrease from July’s $1.15 million revenue. This figure is also lower than the state’s first reported monthly revenue of about $1.1 million in January, when online sports betting was launched.

The August report also broke down Vermont’s handle by sport. With the regular season reaching its final stages in August, it’s hardly surprising that baseball had the biggest handle in the state of $3.47 million.

Additionally, with the U.S. Open taking place from August 19 to September 9, tennis saw the second largest sports betting handle in Vermont, with $2.29 million. Football, table tennis and soccer recorded the third, fourth and fifth-biggest handles in Vermont, with amounts of $958,496, $620,909, and $564,563, respectively. Meanwhile, all other sports posted a combined handle of $3.4 million.
