The dismissed mayor of Banban, Guo Huaping, officially declared today, clearly denying any connection with the suspected "POGO tycoon" Lin Xunhan (or Lü Dong), stating through her lawyer that she only had contact with Huang Zhiyang.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Committee is investigating whether she refused to disclose Lin Xunhan's name during the congressional hearing.
Guo's lawyer, Stephen David, in an interview stated that it needs to be clarified that Guo Huaping has no relationship with Lin Xunhan, the alleged operator of a Philippine offshore gaming operator (POGO) tycoon, and that she does not know Lin Xunhan at all.
He further explained: "She has no connection with POGO, the only person she knows is Huang Zhiyang, who is the only one who purchased land from her."
Previously, the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Committee (PAOCC) had stated that it was investigating whether Guo Huaping refused to reveal Lin's name during the congressional hearing because he is still in the Philippines, suspecting a deep connection between Guo and Lin, intending to "protect" or out of "fear" of revealing Lin's name.
PAOCC Executive Director Cruz pointed out: "The names Guo Huaping often mentioned during the hearing are usually those who have left the Philippines."
Previously, a person who claimed to have worked for Lin stated that he had seen Guo Huaping having transactions with Lin and referred to Guo Huaping as "Madam Wah."
In response, Guo Huaping's lawyer firmly denied these allegations, questioning the credibility of the witness and stating: "Of course, she is angry about this. First of all, these allegations have no factual basis. Since it is said that the person has been arrested, we can cross-examine in court to see what the sources of this information are."
