The German gambling regulator has had its blocking of a payment service provider based in Switzerland approved by a court.

Germany

The Halle Administrative Court confirmed the Joint Gambling Authority of the States’ (GGL) decision to block the company from providing its products to German customers.

The GGL said the company in question was offering its services illegally to German customers.

“This further success in the use of payment blocking shows that national borders are no obstacle to the enforcement of gambling law,” said Ronald Benter, board member at the GGL.

“We do not tolerate uncooperative behaviour by payment service providers. Companies that do not comply with the applicable laws must expect consequences."

“The GGL appeals to all payment service providers to comply with the legal requirements and to work with the GGL,” the regulator said.

“The decision of the Halle Administrative Court is another sign that the GGL is also successful internationally in combating unlawful activities.”

The court made its ruling on October 2.
