The Caixa Econômica Federal is determined to move forward with the creation of its own sports betting house. The bank is waiting for the announcement, scheduled for November 18, of the list of bets enabled by the Ministry of Finance. The launch is scheduled for the first half of 2025. Lucíola Vasconcelos, CEO of Caixa Loterias, reminded that the companies that are licensed will have a period of 30 days to prove a minimum capital of R$ 30 million.
She emphasized that Caixa meets all the necessary requirements and that the project will go ahead, despite concerns raised about the possible effects on low-income communities.
The CEO also highlighted that Caixa has certification at level 3 of the World Lottery Association (WLA), which demonstrates its commitment to responsible gaming practices. Vasconcelos assured that the institution will strictly follow all relevant legislation in the betting sector.
Amid the debate on the possibility of prohibiting Bolsa Família beneficiaries from participating in betting, the CEO reaffirmed that Caixa is committed to respecting all approved norms.
This Monday (14), the state bank took an important step to strengthen its performance in the lottery market by launching Instantânea, a modality that Caixa explored until 2015. Tickets will start being sold from November 2 and will cost from R$ 2.50 to R$ 20.
