A new report has claimed to reveal over 130 betting websites operating illegally in Brazil that are “almost identical” to some that were blocked earlier this month.
As part of Brazil’s move towards sports betting regulation, the Ministry of Finance set a deadline of October 11 for players to withdraw funds from operators who had not joined the regulatory regime, and which would subsequently be blocked.
According to g1, which analysed the National Telecommunications Agency’s list of more than 2,000 addresses that should be blocked, 18 new offerings that closely resemble the previously blocked sites have resurfaced.
The report claims that a string of extra characters has been inserted after the original website URL.
Of the 134 sites, 51 were created on Friday, October 11, and 19 the following day.
