A Fazenda announced this Wednesday (16) another update on the list of betting houses authorized to operate throughout Brazil until the end of the year. The list includes Esportes Gaming, owner of the brands Esportes da Sorte and OnaBet, and Reals Brasil, for Reals, Uxbet, and Netpix. There are now 98 companies (217 bets) on the national list and 26 companies (31 sites) on the state list. They can continue operating until the start of the regulated market, on January 1, 2025.
The two companies had been seeking inclusion since the release of the first list, at the beginning of October, given that they had registered in the Betting Management System (Sigap) and presented all the necessary documentation.
In the case of Esportes Gaming, according to the Ministry of Finance, the inclusion occurred by judicial determination. The company, not having been listed by the federal government, took over the shareholding control of ST Soft, which operated under accreditation from Loterj with the brand Apostou.com, and won the right to continue operating.
The inclusion of Esportes da Sorte among those accredited by the State Lottery of Rio de Janeiro led the Fazenda to release a new list, still in the first week of October, to include the betting house among those allowed to operate by Rio de Janeiro.
In its appeal that secured the inclusion, now, of Esportes da Sorte in the national list of authorized bets, the company stated it had complied with “all legal and normative rites established by the legislation and its respective ordinances”.
Esportes da Sorte is a sponsor of five clubs in the Brazilian Championship: Corinthians, Bahia, Grêmio, Palmeiras (women's) and Athlético-PR (which announced at the beginning of October the suspension of its contract with the company).
The bets listed by the government will be able to continue operating in Brazil during the transition period, which lasts until the end of this year. By then, the Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance, will announce the list of companies definitively approved to start operating in the country from January 1, 2025.
It is expected that by November 20, the SPA will announce the names of the approved companies and they will have to pay the grant, of R$ 30 million, to win the official license to operate. They must also permanently comply with rules to combat fraud, money laundering, and abusive advertising, as well as adopt practices to encourage responsible gaming.
Now, there are 98 companies on the National List, with 217 domains indicated, and 26 on the State List, with 31 houses in operation or in the implementation phase. In the case of the State List, it includes accreditations from the lotteries of Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, and Paraíba. In total, there are more than 230 authorized sites.
