The new ordinance, which VOX described as pioneering in the Community of Madrid, was achieved with the votes in favor of all groups except Mas Madrid. VOX stated that the project "brings with it a series of benefits that impact both society and the economy. Consumer protection, the prevention of gambling addiction, or the promotion of fair competition are some of the goals pursued."
Meanwhile, the use of debit and credit cards in gaming halls in Madrid remains at the center of conflict. After the Community of Madrid presented a public consultation to evaluate the possibility of enabling electronic payment methods, a myriad of controversies erupted, which led to the possibility of withdrawing the project and the presentation of a new legislative initiative to prohibit any attempt to advance the measure.
