The police have confirmed the identities of two suspects involved in the shooting of a Chinese national in a restaurant in Makati City.
The license plate number of the vehicle used by the two individuals during their escape was captured on CCTV.
The suspects, using the aliases "Zi An" and "Bao Long," have also been confirmed by witnesses.
"That's all for now. This way, our intelligence and ongoing manhunt operations won't be hindered," said Jenibeth Artista, the Chief of Makati Police.
"They are also from the Makati area," he added. The police are considering the crime from a business angle.
The head of the Makati City Police Public Information Office stated: This case may be related to a business dispute or a love triangle.
However, according to Mikalongya, it might be related to an online gambling company, as there is an online gambling center next to the building.
They also immediately verified whether the restaurant had the proper licenses.
"I wasn't really aware [of such a restaurant]. I'm surprised. But it is indeed legal. It has a city hall permit," said Antonio from the Mikalongya community in Makati City.
ABS_CBN News attempted to obtain a statement from the victim's cohabitant, who also witnessed the crime.
He refused to face the camera but stated that he personally did not know the suspects and was unclear about the motive for the shooting.
Artista said, "Due to this sensitive incident, the Makati police are in contact with the Chinese Embassy to ensure appropriate information and support is provided."
The police continue to pursue the suspects and collect CCTV footage to track their whereabouts.
