According to Thai media, the Thai police are actively pursuing a criminal gang suspected of kidnapping two Chinese citizens and extorting a large amount of property!

On October 21, 2024, two Chinese victims, accompanied by a Chinese-Thai interpreter, went to the Suttsan Police Station in Bangkok to report that they were attacked by five men armed with firearms.

The Thai police revealed that the gang consists of five men, including two Thais and three Burmese, who were armed with handguns and rifles and committed the crime in the Ratchaphasek Road Soi 24 area in central Bangkok.

The incident occurred around 4 PM on October 19, 2024, when Mr. A (30 years old) and Mr. B (35 years old), two Chinese citizens, were attacked by these five men at their workplace in the area. After breaking into their workplace, the criminal gang threatened and extorted money, demanding the victims pay a ransom of over 4 million Thai Baht (approximately 800,000 RMB).

After some negotiation, the victims agreed to pay 3.2 million Thai Baht in cash, but the criminal gang did not stop there. Instead, they continued to threaten and forcibly took the two victims in a car to Nakhon Nayok Province.

On the way, the criminal gang again demanded an additional 600,000 Thai Baht, but the victims expressed their inability to pay further.

Subsequently, the victims had to borrow money from relatives in China and ended up transferring another 270,000 Thai Baht to the criminals. After receiving part of the ransom, the gang agreed to bring the victims back to Bangkok and released them in the Nawamin Road area. Before releasing them, the gang confiscated the victims' mobile phones and destroyed the SIM cards, then returned the phones to the victims.

The victims then went to a convenience store to buy new SIM cards and contacted their friends, who accompanied them to file a report at the Sutthisan Police Station. Upon receiving the report, the police immediately launched an investigation and coordinated with the investigation team to inspect the scene and check CCTV footage for more clues.

According to the preliminary investigation by the police, the criminal gang used violent methods and showed a high level of organization and planning. The police stated that they would intensify efforts to capture the suspects and bring them to justice as soon as possible.

Furthermore, the police also remind the Chinese citizens in Thailand to be vigilant, enhance their awareness of safety precautions, and avoid becoming targets of criminals. Additionally, if similar incidents occur, they should immediately report to the local police so that the police can take timely action to protect the safety of citizens' lives and property.

As of now, the Thai police are still actively pursuing the criminal gang, and the case is under further investigation.
