The Dutch gambling regulator says operator Winbet is operating illegally in the market and warned the company it faces a fine of up to €840,000.
Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) says Winbet must cease the violation and not offer online gaming services at the four websites in question or face a penalty of €280,000 per week.
The KSA says an investigation found players could create an account, make deposits and “participate in the illegal gambling offered” at Galaxy Spins, Winner Casino, SuperbBet and Doctor Spins.
“No technical measures were taken on the sites to prevent participation from the Netherlands,” the regulator added.
For every week that the violation continues, the KSA will increase the penalty payment up to €840,000.
“The Netherlands has a regulated gambling market to better protect players. The KSA therefore takes tough action against illegal supply,” it said.
“With an order subject to penalty, illegal supply is often quickly stopped. Providers can also be fined for the period in which the illegal supply was available.”
