Lottopar, attentive to the criteria of regulation of sports betting and online games in Brazil, is guiding the people of Paraná to seek only platforms authorized by the Union or by the autarchy. President Daniel Romanowski warns that among the main problems are the risk of fraud, as personal data can be exposed and if any inconvenience arises most companies operate outside Brazil and do not have customer service.
Since October 11, betting sites that are not regulated either by Lottopar or by the Union are prohibited from offering these services in Paraná. As a result, more than two thousand betting sites that did not request regulation began to be blocked by Anatel.
This blocking process is not immediate and may take some time for all to be blocked, so Lottopar alerts bettors about the risks of continuing to access illegal sites and advises to access only regulated sites. The list of authorized sites can be checked here.
On the trip to Curitiba to participate in the 1st Responsible Gaming Week promoted by Lottopar, the Federal Government's Secretary of Prizes and Betting (SPA), Regis Dudena, stated that “this work will 'separate the wheat from the chaff' and it will be very expensive to keep creating these domains because we will attack in all necessary means, including the financial system, advertising in conjunction with Conar and social networks”.
“The idea is to make the economic activity of those who are not legal unviable”, said Dudena. In other words, the bettor who places bets on an unregulated site may at any time lose their money.
The president of Lottopar, Daniel Romanowski, emphasizes the importance of these blocks as a way to ensure a safe market for the bettor.
“First of all, it is important to remember that betting sites are entertainment, not a way to get rich or recover losses. With the regulated market, the bettor has all the support of customer service, ombudsman channels, certificates that attest to the security of operations and, most importantly, in addition to having fun, part of the resources stay in the State for investments in public safety, affordable housing, and social projects”.
Among the main risks that the bettor faces when using these illegal sites is the loss of money, since many of these sites do not have guarantees and the bettor does not know in advance the probability of winning. In addition, there is a high risk of fraud, such as sites that can steal personal or financial information, lack of regulation and supervision, as well as guarantees that the games are fair or that payments are made as promised.
Therefore, the Director of Operations at Lottopar, Fabio Veiga, states that if someone is considering betting, it is always better to opt for regulated and reliable platforms.
“The sites regulated by Lottopar offer security, as Paraná was the first state to accredit testing and certification laboratories, thus ensuring that the systems of these regulated sites are secure, fair, and free of fraud”, he highlights.
