On October 22, South Korea's top broadcaster KBS released a video report revealing three scam parks near Phnom Penh, including the Mango Park.
It is reported that KBS sent reporters to secretly visit the scam parks in Phnom Penh because the embassy frequently received requests for help regarding South Koreans trapped in these parks, with cases exceeding a hundred, thus quickly drawing the attention of Korean media and initiating special reports.
KBS is South Korea's top broadcaster, the largest and most representative broadcasting station in the country, hence the broadcast of this program had a significant impact. The Cambodian side, upon seeing the report, was forced to take some actions.
However, today, the Director-General of the Cambodian National Police, Su Tong, sternly refuted the KBS report about South Korean citizens being illegally detained and forced to work in Cambodia.
He stated that there was a South Korean man who sought help in August, and he had already returned to his country.
But Su Tong also mentioned that in response to this media report, the National Police have immediately launched an investigation as instructed by Prime Minister Hun Manet.
This "related investigation" instructed by Hun Manet might be today's raid on Mango Park.
