The National Bureau of Investigation in the Philippines is currently verifying potential online gambling activities at four different locations in Cebu City within the Central Visayas region (Region VII). It has been reported that traces of online gambling centers were previously found in a hotel in Lablab City, Ayus Micolong, and in the southwestern part of Cebu, Mobo City.
Renan Oliva, the Director of the Bureau for Region VII, stated that multiple reports have been received about the spread of online gambling activities in the area, and they are now in the process of verifying the specifics of these locations.
He said, "We have received numerous reports about potential widespread illegal online gambling activities and are currently verifying them. Once these locations are confirmed to be engaging in illegal gambling, we will take action, which will be a joint operation involving multiple departments."
Although the investigation has already begun, Oliva admitted that verifying the existence of these activities is not easy. He explained, "The security measures at these places are very strict, making it difficult to directly verify the situation. We need to continuously monitor these locations and gather more evidence."
This investigation involves the cooperation of multiple departments, demonstrating the government's determination to combat illegal online gambling. The Cebu police and other law enforcement agencies will continue to work closely to ensure that the actions against illegal gambling are carried out smoothly.
