The Philippine police announced that they successfully rescued a 57-year-old South Korean man, Mr. Park, who had been kidnapped, and arrested three suspects involved in the kidnapping the following day.
Mr. Park lives in Angeles City, Pampanga Province. He was kidnapped by three armed individuals while heading to a location for a car transaction, and was forcibly taken in a black Kia Carnival with the license plate AP338A.
The kidnappers later sent photos of Mr. Park bound and blindfolded to his family via social media, demanding a ransom. Mr. Park was eventually abandoned in a location in Nueva Ecija Province.
During the rescue operation, the police successfully tracked down and arrested three Filipino suspects, who disclosed the identities of the mastermind and two other gang members.
The police stated that follow-up operations are ongoing, aiming to completely dismantle this criminal gang.
Investigations revealed that the gang had committed multiple crimes, including robbery, carjacking, and kidnapping other South Koreans, with two previous victims released after paying a ransom of 800,000 pesos.
The police emphasized their commitment to continue fighting such crimes to ensure the safety of foreign nationals in the Philippines.
