According to Cambodian media, on October 31, the police from the Ministry of Interior escorted 25 foreigners arrested in the mango plantation area to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for trial.
Cambodian media revealed that most of the suspects are Chinese and will be interrogated for possible involvement in illegal online gambling activities.
Currently, the specifics of the case have not been disclosed by the authorities.
On the morning of October 24, the Deputy Director General of the National Police and Director of the Central Security Bureau, Di Wei Jie (son-in-law of Prince Hun Sen), led a large number of police officers in a raid on the mango plantation area, capturing over 1000 suspects involved in telecom fraud and online gambling, including many Chinese and Koreans.
Surprisingly, the Cambodian police later stated that there were no illegal activities in the mango plantation area, and the thousands of arrested individuals had been released.
