According to Myanmar media, a recent case involving two young women from Yangon has drawn widespread social attention.
As revealed by the father of one of the victims, 18-year-old Ma Yadana Moe Choonlethu and 16-year-old Ma Shwe Po Uso left their hometown on October 26, originally planning to look for job opportunities in eastern Shan State.
However, they were trafficked to a scam operation area on the border of Shan State.
According to the father of the victims, the two girls initially told their family that they were going to work near Yangon, so the family was not overly worried.
However, a few days after their departure, the family lost contact with them and multiple attempts to reach them were unsuccessful.
A few days later, a man claiming to be an agent contacted the girls' father, claiming that the sisters were not victims of human trafficking and promised to resolve the issue soon.
However, in subsequent communications, the sisters expressed their fear over the phone, with Chinese conversations audible in the background, suggesting they might be with Chinese individuals.
