By Tuesday evening, we will know if Petersburg will be Virginia’s fifth casino host city. The chairman and CEO of the city’s gaming partner is not ready to officially declare victory but will admit to feeling “very good” about the chances.
“The reception has been tremendous, the warmth and enthusiasm,” David Cordish told The Progress-Index Monday, less than 24 hours before Election Day. “I do feel very good.”
His firm, the Maryland-based Cordish Companies, has spent millions of dollars on advertising and promotions convincing voters to say “yes” to a project that city leaders claim will bring the largest economic development in Petersburg history.
