Danish Gambling Authority: Denmark's gambling expenditure decreased by 2.8% in September, but spending on online casinos has increased.

The Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden, has released the gambling revenue data for September 2024.

The total expenditure in September 2024 was 553 million Danish kroner, a decrease of 2.8% compared to the same period last year.

The largest decline was in gambling, which fell by 22% to 144 million Danish kroner. Of this, 63.2% of the bets came from mobile devices, 14.6% from desktop computers, and 22.2% from physical betting shops.

Deposits on weekdays accounted for about 11% of the total weekly amount, while Saturday and Sunday each accounted for around 20%.

Expenditure in physical casinos fell by 9.7% to 29 million Danish kroner, equivalent to an average daily expenditure of 155,025 Danish kroner.

Performance of gaming machines also declined, with expenditures down 3.5% to 92 million Danish kroner.

The daily consumption for physical slot machines was 475,557 Danish kroner, with the most popular time being between 3 PM and 4 PM, accounting for 8.8% of all time slots.

Finally, the only growth was seen in the online casino vertical, where expenditure increased by 12% to 288 million Danish kroner.

It is worth noting that compared to last year, the proportion of mobile players in online casinos increased by 3%

Overall, 77.5% came from slot machines, 3% from bingo games, 3% from poker, 6% from roulette, and 7.5% from blackjack.

As of September 2024, there were 53,043 registrants in Rofus, and 37 players contacted StopSpillet.

In other news from Denmark, the authority's youth gambling prevention campaign has won multiple awards, including one from the International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR).
