Commitment to mental health: the IJAN signs an agreement with the College of Psychologists of Neuquén

Both institutions will plan joint actions in the field of mental health and addictions.

Argentina.- The Provincial Institute of Gambling of Neuquén (IJAN) signed yesterday, Monday, November 4, a collaboration agreement with the College of Psychologists of Neuquén in order to coordinate training, information, and research work focusing on gambling disorders.

The head of the provincial agency, Raúl Béttiga and the president of the medical college, Lic. Sabrina Contreras signed the agreement at the IJAN headquarters in the capital. Also present at the meeting was the Responsible Gaming and Social Responsibility representative, Lic. Diana Fusco.

The two organizations will collaborate reciprocally with the aim of “analyzing, planning, coordinating, and executing joint actions, in order to promote and develop mental health and well-being programs for the population of Neuquén”.

They also reported that they will plan and execute actions to generate healthy lifestyle habits that contribute to strengthening and creating healthy environments throughout the province.

The agreement also includes the exchange of data regarding psychologists who are specialized in gambling disorders.

From the General Directorate of Telecommunications, dependent on the Undersecretary of Educational Technology and Modernization of the Ministry of Education of the province of Neuquén, it was announced that at the end of September, the Nation proceeded to block 6,000 web pages in schools, which enable clandestine gambling, often involving students and minors.

According to reports from the government of the Patagonian province, the action was carried out through the technological floors – internal network distribution of internet service in schools – of around 600 educational establishments throughout the province.

In an action driven by the prosecutor's office of Case Assignment and Public Attention, at the beginning of September, ten illegal gambling pages operating in the province of Neuquén were taken down. The measure was requested by the case prosecutor, Diego Azcárate, who initiated the investigation following a complaint filed by the Institute of Gambling of Neuquén (IJAN) at the end of June.
