Philippine media today released a video of the police raid on Xin Ding Cai, detailing the alleged extortion by the police.
The video mentions that during the initial inspection, the police demanded four million pesos from the company and quickly left the scene when the payment was not received. However, the police did not stop there and later returned to the scene, arresting 56 suspects.
Additionally, the police bribed an intermediary with 500,000 pesos to obtain the suspects' mobile phone passwords.
This incident has attracted widespread attention from the public and media. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) had previously insisted that the raid was completely legal and expressed willingness to undergo investigation.
However, as the video was exposed, the public has raised serious questions about the police's actions.
Following the incident, Major General Sidney Hernia of the NCRPO and 14 involved officers have been relieved of their duties. Major General Hernia stated that an investigation into the operation is ongoing, and those involved will face strict disciplinary actions, with all illegal activities being seriously dealt with.
"We must ensure that all police actions are in accordance with the law and regulations," Hernia said in an interview. "The exposure of this incident provides us an opportunity to prove our innocence, and the investigation will further verify whether our actions were compliant."
Currently, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has stated that it will continue to cooperate with the investigation and reiterated its opposition to any form of corrupt behavior. Further developments in the case are awaited for official announcement.
