The Secretariat of Awards and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance has issued Normative Instruction 11/204, which defines the rules for operators to adopt the .bet.br domain. Companies, once notified of the approval of their license applications, must request registration on the Registro.br website, directed to the Information and Coordination Center of the BR Point (NIC.br).
As already stipulated in the law that regulated the activity of sports betting and online games, all operators approved to operate in the segment must adopt the .bet.br domain for their sites starting from January 1, 2025, when the regulated market begins in Brazil.
To comply with this requirement, companies approved by the Secretariat of Awards and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance must seek Registro.br to adopt the new extension for their operations. Only companies that adopt the .bet.br domain will be able to continue operating in the regulated market.
All domain requests made by operators will go through the scrutiny of the SPA regarding some criteria, including:
- date of registration request after the notification date of authorization by the SPA
- commercial brands to be exploited under the .bet.br domain
- adoption of the “domain name system extensions (DNSSEC)” technology.
After analysis by Registro.br and approval from the SPA regarding the regularity of the process, operators will be notified so that they can adjust their electronic addresses as determined by the government to adopt the new one, already with the .bet.br extension, starting on January 1.
Companies that presented themselves to the Betting Management System (Sigap) must register the new electronic address adopted after the domain registration request of .bet.br within five days from the date of approval of the registration.
