The Government of Chubut, through the Ministry of Education and the Social Assistance Institute, provided a workshop for more than 150 high school students.

Argentina.- The Government of Chubut, through the Ministry of Education and the Social Assistance Institute (IAS), held a workshop on "Awareness of online gaming and betting" for youth in Puerto Madryn. More than 150 high school students participated in the activity, which aimed to raise awareness about the use and risks of these digital platforms.

The event took place at School No. 728 and was led by Analía Alfaro, coordinator of Guidance and Support Teams for School Trajectories at the Ministry of Education, Aidú Iriarte, IAS delegate in Puerto Madryn, and Daniela Mellao, head of the Responsible Gaming area of the Institute.

The training was conducted by Jimena Petriello and Sebastián Quinteros, specialists from the Ministry of Education, and provided a perspective on the prevention of risky behaviors in gaming. During the talk, students expressed their doubts and concerns about the topic.

According to the local media Chubutline, Ramiro Ibarra, president of the Social Assistance Institute, highlighted that "this initiative reaffirms the commitment of the Ministry of Education and the IAS in protecting the youth of the province, promoting responsible practices in the digital environment." The official emphasized that the activity was carried out at the request of Governor Torres "in his effort to strengthen the protection and well-being of youth in the digital realm."

In August, the governor of Chubut, Ignacio "Nacho" Torres, led the signing of an institutional collaboration agreement between the IAS – Chubut Lottery and the Attorney General's Office of the province to strengthen the fight against illegal gambling and prevent minors' access to betting platforms.

The agreements, which included the transfer of funds to address gambling addiction, also strengthen collaboration between the judiciary and the health and education departments.

Furthermore, as part of its 65th anniversary, the Social Assistance Institute – Chubut Lottery held the summit "Redefining Gaming: New Challenges and Opportunities" in the city of Trelew. The meeting brought together experts from across the country to discuss responsible gaming and the fight against gambling addiction.

Authorities, private entrepreneurs, regulatory bodies, and officials from the health and education sectors of Chubut, were part of the panels that aimed primarily to raise awareness and promote good practices in education and the gaming industry.

The president of the Social Assistance Institute (IAS) Chubut Lottery, Ramiro Ibarra, announced that the agency will create a special area dedicated to supervising the activity of casinos operating in the Patagonian province.

The official explained that they will begin to implement training for the staff. "We believe it is necessary, because the Institute will move to a system of control concerning casinos, and what happens within the casinos. Today we do not have it. After 65 years, it is necessary to modernize the Institute," Ibarra assured.
