The Legislative Assembly of Minas Gerais (ALMG) received this Wednesday (6) a bill to regulate online betting in the state. The text, presented by state deputy Alencar da Silveira Júnior, from PDT, prohibits users of the platforms from betting on events that depend on the individual conduct of athletes, such as penalty cards and number of fouls.

The project presented by deputy Alencar da Silveira Júnior  to the Assembly also prevents the use of random games, such as roulettes.

In another article, the project bans online betting on random games like roulettes, casinos, bingos, and the animal game. The section also includes variants of the so-called "Little Tiger game".

The first stage of analysis of the proposal will take place in the Constitution and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Assembly. The idea is that the State Lottery of Minas Gerais (Lemg) be the autarchy responsible for monitoring compliance with the points defended by the project. According to the text, if there is non-compliance with the rules by the betting houses, the state may fine them.

"The betting operators working within the State must implement, on their platforms, permanent policies and actions for the prevention, combat, and treatment of gamblers' addiction, as well as tools capable of identifying its occurrence by the users, as provided in the regulations,” reads an article of the project.

According to Alencar, who is also the chairman of the Board of Directors of América, the ban on betting on individual conduct would not prevent users of such platforms from betting on the outcomes of sports matches.

The goal is to ensure that the online betting market operates responsibly, preserving consumer integrity and mitigating public health risks,” he said.

Minas player targeted by the Federal Police

Betting on individual conducts such as yellow and red cards has prompted investigations around the world to ascertain possible irregularities. This week, for example, relatives of striker Bruno Henrique, from Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais and belonging to Flamengo, were targeted by a Federal Police operation.

Bruno is suspected of having received a yellow card deliberately in November last year, against Santos, for the Serie A of the Brazilian Championship. The attitude would have served to benefit bettors close to him.
