Online sports books in New York state held at only a 7.6 percent clip last month. This meant that a 16 percent increase in handle translated into a revenue gain of just six percent for October.

Wagering volume was over $2.3 billion, with the resultant revenue amounting to $176.3 million. This was also the first full month of operations in the Empire State for ESPN Bet.

FanDuel held at a higher rate than most books—8.5 percent—and led all comers with $908 million in handle and $77.3 million in revenue. That was a two percent gain in handle, but a seven percent revenue slippage from October 2023.

Arch rival DraftKings held more loosely, at 7.2 percent. Its handle was up sharply at 25 percent to $814 million, while revenue slipped a percentage point to $58.9 million.

Newcomer ESPN Bet generated $41 million in handle for revenue of $3.2 million. It was narrowly bested by BetRivers’s $3.5 million on $46 million in wagers.

Strongest of the non-FanDuel/DraftKings operators was Fanatics, with winnings of $12.4 million. Its handle was $178 million.

Caesars Sportsbook realized $10.9 million on $155 million in handle. BetMGM handled a higher volume ($161 million), but achieved less revenue at $9.5 million, holding a low 5.9 percent.

Two operators failed to cross the $1 million threshold. Both Resorts World Bet and BallyBet made $300,000 on handle of $7 million and $11 million, respectively.
