According to the latest news, the former mayor of Banban City in Danleng Province, Guo Huaping, made a "not guilty" plea to corruption charges during a video hearing at the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Miaorenruila area.
The clerk of the 285th division of Miaorenruila area, Atty. Pascual Lacas Jr., revealed that Guo Huaping denied the two charges of violating the Anti-Corruption Act, Republic Act No. 3019, during the video link. According to the clerk, when confirming the language of communication, Guo expressed a preference for English, and the court ultimately chose to read the charges to her in English.
Guo then firmly stated her "not guilty" stance on both charges.
The court announced that the next hearing will be held on November 22. According to the RTC, since Guo Huaping has waived her right to appear, the court will no longer require her to attend future hearings in person.
In September, Guo Huaping had already paid a bail of 540,000 pesos for these cases. However, she remains detained in the women's dormitory of the Pasig City Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
