The Philippine National Police (PNP) has denied reports that over 300 million pesos in cash seized in two operations involving Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) were lost.
PNP spokesperson Brigadier General Jean Fajardo stated that the total of 305 million pesos (with 187.8 million pesos from Clark Sun Valley Hub in Pampanga and 117.1 million pesos from Xinchuang Network Technology in Las Piñas, formerly known as Hong Tai) is still intact and stored safely within Camp Crame.
During a press briefing, the media were shown a video. "There might be individuals exploiting erroneous information and fake news to cast doubts on the PNP and the National Capital Region Police Office's recent operation at the Century Peak Tower against ACG, similar to previous cases involving POGOs," Fajardo said.
Fajardo was referring to the October 29 raid by the Anti-Cybercrime Group and the National Capital Region Police Office on the Vertex Technology facilities located in Manila's Century Peak Tower, to investigate alleged involvement in cryptocurrency and romance scams.
Fajardo mentioned that the PNP is ready to turn over the money and comply with any court orders.
"Those malicious reports and claims by those deceived are not true," she said. "They are intact."
