The Malaysian Immigration Department conducted a raid on an entertainment center in Kuala Lumpur, arresting 89 people, including 71 foreign women. The raid took place at 12:45 AM, with 29 officials dispatched to Jalan Pudu Ulu for the operation.
Despite the entertainment center having a secret passage to the parking lot for staff to escape, immigration officials had already detected this escape route and deployed a team to ambush in the parking lot, successfully capturing those attempting to flee.
Among those arrested during the raid were 61 Thai women, 10 Vietnamese women, 6 Bangladeshi men, 2 Chinese men, 1 Laotian man, and 9 local men and women. The ages of those arrested ranged from 23 to 58 years old.
Director Wan Shaubi stated that during the operation, a man who was caught tried to obstruct the law enforcement officers, claiming he thought his phone was stolen and was confused due to being drunk.
The venue has long been suspected of providing illegal entertainment services, including offering "hanging flower" gifts to customers, ranging from 100 to 5000 Malaysian Ringgit, with some customers even giving luxury hanging flowers worth up to 100,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
Wan Shaubi also revealed that the police are investigating women who are staying illegally or have overstayed their visas under the Immigration Act of 1969. Additionally, 9 local men and women were also arrested for suspected violations of immigration laws. The Immigration Department is continuing to investigate other illegal activities at this entertainment center.
