Phnom Penh News — Advisors to the Thai Foreign Minister, Dus and Chayika, met with the Cambodian Minister of Tourism, Ho Ha, in Phnom Penh to discuss the "One Destination, Six Countries" visa policy.
This policy aims to simplify travel between Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Brunei, Vietnam, and Malaysia, similar to Europe's Schengen visa.
Ho Ha expressed support for the proposal and agreed to discuss it further with relevant departments such as the Cambodian Ministry of Interior, before submitting the recommendation for cabinet review. The plan is to start with Cambodia as a pilot and gradually expand to other countries.
The meeting also discussed various strategies to enhance tourism cooperation among the six countries, including strengthening private sector cooperation, designing interconnected travel routes (especially UNESCO heritage sites), increasing flights, and creating a regional tourism calendar to synchronize the promotion of major festivals and offer discounts to tourists.
Furthermore, Thailand plans to improve transportation links, increasing land, water, and air travel options to various parts of Cambodia, making travel more convenient for tourists.
