The entity created with the support of Coljuegos held a meeting to review the results of its actions and outline new strategies for the future.
Colombia.- After its creation at the end of September through the support action of Coljuegos, the Interinstitutional Committee for the legality of games of chance in Caldas is progressing with its tasks to control the gambling universe in the region. In this regard, a committee meeting was held to outline the steps to be taken in the future. During this meeting, the commitments made in the previous meeting were reviewed and the progress made in the regulation of games of chance was presented, one of the main focuses of this committee's work.
During the meeting, the authorities shared the actions taken in recent months, which have helped detect violations in terms of raffles and chance games. In this context, the Government Secretariat of Caldas reported 21 arrests in the department for illegal commercialization of games of chance.
“Fortunately for the safety of all Caldas residents, the members of the Committee agreed on the need to redouble efforts to ensure that games of chance operate within a legal and safe context, for the benefit of both buyers and sellers alike,” stated Mariana Gómez Zuluaga, manager of the Departmental Company for Health (EDSA).
One of the most significant commitments made during this meeting is the strengthening of operational actions, with the aim of improving the effectiveness of controls and regulation throughout the territory. In particular, the importance of "reinforcing collaboration with the Prosecutor's Office, in order to increase the response capacity against illegal activities associated with these games" was highlighted.
