The National Institute of Statistics and Census shared data for the first nine months of the year.
Panama.- According to the information published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), gambling in Panama generated USD1.931m between January and September, marking a growth of 14.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023.
The INEC figures cover sales generated in recreational activities such as racetracks, bingo halls, gaming tables, type “A” slot machines, sports betting rooms, online gambling, as well as the sale of tickets and chances of the National Charity Lottery (LNB).
According to the analysis by the local media La Estrella, type “A” slot machines and online gambling dominated the Panamanian market during the first nine months of the year.
The type “A” slot machines earned a total of USD1.549m between January and September, recording a year-on-year variation of 12.1 percent compared to 2023, when they registered USD1.382m.
The online betting, on the other hand, reached USD240m and recorded the highest percentage growth, with an increase of 48.1 percent compared to the period January-September 2023.
The sports betting rooms generated USD15.5m, 20.3 percent more than the same period last year, with USD12.9m in gross bets.

The sale of chances and tickets of the LNB grew by 5.7 percent compared to September 2023, as the gross lottery sales and revenue amounted to USD623m, whereas in the same month last year, they had placed USD589.6m.
Also, the gaming tables achieved a total of USD97.7m in bets; the year-over-year variation was just 2.6 percent, as in the same period last year they achieved USD95.2m in gross bets.
