Senator Izalci Lucas opened the list of requests for the new CPI of Bets, set up last week. The legislator has already submitted no less than 135 requests, ranging from the summoning of the president of the Financial Activities Control Council, Ricardo Liáo, to the request for documents from Operation Integration, by the Civil Police of Pernambuco, which resulted in the arrest of influencer Deolane Bezerra in September.
In the request, Izalci Lucas says that the CPI should hear from Ricardo Liáo, president of Coaf, due to the role the agency will have in monitoring the bets – one of the concerns of the committee members is the potential use of these companies for money laundering.
Also a member of the CPI, Alessandro Vieira (MDB-SE) will request the breaking of secrecy of the supposed beneficiaries of social programs who used the money to bet on bets. A report from the Central Bank in August this year suggests that some of the payments are much higher than what the beneficiaries could afford, raising questions about possible frauds.
In the report, the Central Bank states that 5 million beneficiaries spent R$ 3 billion on bets in August. However, the average expenditure is R$ 100. That is, half of the people spent up to this amount, totaling R$ 250 million. The remaining R$ 2.75 billion was spent by 2.5 million people, or R$ 1,100 each, much more than the average amount of the Bolsa.
