The Immigration Bureau of Thailand's Second Division recently held a press conference to report significant achievements in combating illegal immigration and telecommunications fraud.

It was reported that the Immigration Bureau successfully arrested 19 suspected telecommunications fraudsters at a resort in the Lam Luk Ka district of Pathum Thani Province, including 18 Chinese nationals.

Following a tip-off, the Immigration Bureau launched an investigation and discovered 18 Chinese nationals who had entered the country illegally staying at the resort. These individuals were dispersed across four rooms and were provided with food and shelter by a Thai man named Adisak (pseudonym).

Adisak is suspected of violating the Immigration Act of 1979 by providing accommodation, concealment, and other conveniences to illegal immigrants, aiding them in evading law enforcement.

During the operation, the Immigration Bureau seized 35 mobile phones and 92 Myanmar and international SIM cards. Further investigation revealed that all 18 illegal immigrants were Chinese smugglers planning to travel through Thailand to Tak Province on the Thai-Myanmar border to join a telecommunications fraud gang in Myanmar. Some suspects had previously been involved in telecommunications fraud in Laos, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

During interrogation, Adisak confessed that he had received these illegal immigrants in Hua Hin and transported them to the resort, where he was responsible for their accommodation and daily arrangements. Additionally, he disclosed that he was employed by a criminal in southern Thailand to transfer these individuals to Mae Sot District in Tak Province, arranging their living conditions and earning a fee of 12,000 Thai Baht.

Currently, the Immigration Bureau has charged 19 individuals, including Adisak, and has confiscated related items involved in the case. Further investigations are ongoing.

The Immigration Bureau of Thailand stated that it will continue to strengthen efforts to combat illegal immigration and telecommunications fraud to ensure national security and social stability. The public is urged to report any suspicious activities promptly to help maintain social order.
