On Tuesday morning, a 46-year-old Chinese citizen was stabbed to death inside his car on Tunasan Street in Manila by unidentified assailants.
CCTV surveillance in Barangay 242 captured the attacker approaching the victim's parked car.
"When we reviewed the CCTV footage, we saw that the victim appeared to be waiting for someone in the area. We indeed saw the suspect approaching, and when he did, he stabbed our victim," said Police Captain Dennis Turla, head of the homicide section of the Manila Police District.
After the stabbing, the suspect left the area, while the victim was still able to drive his car to the Padre Algue Street area, where he is believed to have suffocated to death. After a while, traffic enforcers, who were peeking, saw that the driver had already collapsed and was dead," said a security guard from a building near where the victim's car was parked.
The victim had four stab wounds on his thigh and left arm.
"When we arrived at the scene, we found the victim already dead. He had wounds on his body. There were bloodstains while he was sitting in the driver's seat," added Turla.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the victim was not from Manila, but the mastermind behind the stabbing incident might also be a Chinese citizen.
"The suspect is not familiar with this place. I just saw it now. Isn't there a Chinese church around here? I just saw him today," said Kakawad Melchor Geralde of Bgy.
The police are still investigating the possible motives behind the crime.
