On November 19th, the Wa State United Army stationed in Dangyang discovered and successfully dismantled a major telecommunications fraud hub during a patrol. The location was in the dense forests near Bingduan Village. During the operation, the Wa State forces captured 762 Chinese nationals involved in the fraud and seized a large number of tools used in the crimes, including 76 Starlink receivers, 1549 mobile phones, 82 computers, and more.
Following the directives from the central Wa State, the troops in the Dangyang defense area collaborated with a brigade of the joint army, the judicial committee, and other departments to quickly launch a sweep operation, successfully capturing most of the suspects. Despite the fraud hub being located in the complex terrain of the mountains, about 300 suspects managed to escape into the jungle, evading capture. The Wa State authorities have ordered a reinforcement of the search and called on the local public to report any sightings.
Later that day, all captured suspects and the tools used in the crimes were escorted to Mengmao County, and in accordance with the Sino-Myanmar police cooperation agreement, the 762 suspects were handed over to the Chinese side at the Yonghe port in Cangyuan County, Lincang City, on the afternoon of November 19th. This operation marks a significant collaboration between China and Myanmar in combating cross-border telecommunications fraud.
