A bloody murder occurred in the Tondo district of Manila City. A 46-year-old Chinese citizen, Shaoping Zhang, was found dead in a gray Toyota Avanza, with multiple stab wounds on his body.
The murderer has been identified as his compatriot, Liu Chow Qun, and the police are actively pursuing him.
According to the preliminary investigation by the Manila Police Homicide Section, the incident occurred around 6:45 AM. Witnesses stated that Zhang had a heated argument with Liu in front of a temple on Narra Street, after which Liu temporarily left but returned shortly with a weapon.
At that time, Zhang was sitting in the car when Liu suddenly rushed forward and stabbed Zhang repeatedly.
Although there were attempts to intervene, the suspect paused briefly then continued his assault. The victim tried to drive away but only made it to Algue Street before losing consciousness due to severe injuries, ultimately leading to his death.
After the incident, a traffic police officer approached the vehicle because its hazard lights were continuously flashing, and discovered Zhang dead in the driver's seat, with a blood-stained knife left in the car.
An autopsy revealed that Zhang had been stabbed four times, with the main wounds located on his left arm and thigh, and he died from excessive blood loss.
The investigation indicated that Zhang was not a local resident and might have been visiting the Chinese community temporarily. The suspect, Liu, was reportedly living in a nearby residential building according to witnesses.
Police surveillance footage showed Liu fleeing the scene along La Torre Street after the crime, making a phone call, and then leaving the area in a tricycle.
The police are currently investigating the relationship between the two men and the motive for the crime, while cooperating with leaders of the local Chinese community to gather more clues. The case has caused great concern within the community, with local residents deeply shocked by the incident and calling for the swift capture of the murderer.
The police urge anyone with information to come forward to help solve the case and call on the public to remain vigilant to ensure community safety.
