According to Philippine media, early yesterday morning, a 46-year-old Chinese citizen was found dead in a car parked at the corner of Padre Algue Street and Jose Abad Santos Avenue in Manila, with multiple stab wounds on his body.
The local police believe that the murderer is also Chinese, and both the murderer and the victim were involved in the POGO industry.
The Manila Police District (MPD) reported that a traffic enforcement officer initially reported the incident, thinking that the man in the dark gray Toyota Avanza had a heart attack.
However, after inspection by the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, it was confirmed that the man was dead with several stab wounds.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the stabbing occurred at a different location. Captain Dennis Tula, head of the homicide section of the Manila Police, said: "When we reviewed the surveillance footage, we saw the victim appeared to be waiting for someone. Shortly after, the suspect appeared in the frame, initially doing nothing, but then suddenly approached and stabbed the victim."
After stabbing the victim, the suspect immediately entered a nearby apartment building and fled the scene.
The victim did not die immediately but managed to drive to Padre Algue Street, where his body was later found. The scene revealed that the victim had four stab wounds on his thigh and left arm.
Tula added: "When we arrived at the scene, we found the victim had already died. He had wounds on his body. There were bloodstains when he was sitting in the driver's seat." The police's preliminary investigation indicates that the victim was Chinese. Moreover, it is almost certain that the perpetrator of the stabbing was also Chinese.
Investigators are coordinating with the local village and are tracking the suspect through a surveillance network. The police stated that no shell casings were found at the scene, supporting the theory that the man died from stab wounds.
The Manila police stated that they are thoroughly investigating, and the victim's body will undergo an autopsy.
Netizens have speculated that the murder may have stemmed from a financial dispute; others mentioned that the Chinese suspect is a POGO worker. On the 19th, the police had surrounded a community not far from the scene of the crime, searching for the suspect. Residents in the community group mentioned that the suspect might have lived in the area.
However, it is currently uncertain if the person is still there, and further confirmation from the police is pending.
