EveryMatrix, BetBlocker, and the Responsible Gambling Foundation (RGF) have launched a new initiative to promote gambling safety in Malta.
This collaboration introduced the Maltese version of BetBlocker as part of the 2024 European Safe Gambling Week.
BetBlocker allows users to block access to gambling websites and apps, supporting those who seek to manage their gambling habits.
The new Maltese translation of the software aims to enhance the accessibility for local players by providing guidance in their native language, thereby increasing engagement.
It is hoped that this move will increase the likelihood of users successfully setting up tools to support responsible gambling.
BetBlocker founder and trustee Duncan Garvie commented on this development, saying: "One of the biggest challenges BetBlocker faces is ensuring that the technically complex application is as simple and user-friendly as possible for setup.
"Currently, BetBlocker can assist users from download to being blocked in less than 2 minutes, but this is only if the setup instructions are perceived as simple and easy to understand.
"When users can access BetBlocker in their most familiar language, their likelihood of becoming active blockers is much higher."
Kevin O'Neill, General Manager of the Responsible Gambling Foundation, added: "The Responsible Gambling Foundation is honored to collaborate with BetBlocker and EveryMatrix on this initiative. Translating BetBlocker into Maltese is an important step towards accessibility and inclusivity, ensuring that players can effectively manage their gambling habits in their mother tongue.
"This project demonstrates the power of partnership in strengthening player protection and highlights the importance of providing tools that facilitate responsible decision-making."
