The initiative will be especially directed at young people.
Argentina.- The members of the City Council of Santiago del Estero approved the implementation of the "Provincial Program for Awareness and Prevention of Gambling Addiction and Control of Problematic Digital Consumption." The local government had been seeking the implementation of this proposal, and it was only yesterday that it was approved by the councilors.
Thus, at the initiative of the Civic Front block, the Ordinance was sanctioned by which "a campaign to raise awareness about responsible online gaming is created."
Among the main objectives, two stand out:
In the reasons for the new regulation, it is indicated that "online gaming by teenagers has increased significantly in recent years," to which it is added: "According to the World Health Organization (WHO), both gambling addiction and video games are classified as serious disorders that can be equated to problems such as depression and alcohol abuse, negatively impacting the physical and mental health of individuals."
