Since his arrest by Thai law enforcement on August 10, 2022, the situation of She Zhijiang, the founder of Asia Pacific Group, has been worrying.
Recently, the Asia Pacific Group issued a statement saying that She Zhijiang was severely assaulted in a Thai prison, resulting in serious injuries and paralysis, and he now relies on a wheelchair for mobility.
According to reports, on the morning of October 29, several prison guards in the death row section of the Central Prison in Thailand provoked and beat She Zhijiang, causing him to have difficulty breathing and unable to move his body, and he did not receive timely medical treatment.
The Asia Pacific Group strongly condemned this deliberate injury incident in the statement and protested against the Thai government for not taking appropriate measures.
The group pointed out that She Zhijiang has been illegally detained for more than two years, during which he was beaten by prison guards twice, and even experienced assassination attempts and poisoning.
The Asia Pacific Group also stated that She Zhijiang is innocent and that the Thai side should not deprive him of his right to bail. The group calls on the international community to pay attention to this matter and demands that the Thai government provide She Zhijiang with fair treatment.
She Zhijiang, from Shaoyang, Hunan, engaged in various occupations in his early years and later moved to the Philippines. According to the indictment from the Chinese side in Bangkok, Thailand, She Zhijiang was sentenced by the Yantai Economic Development Zone Court in Shandong in 2014 for illegally operating an online lottery business targeting Chinese citizens in the Philippines, making a profit of about 298 million US dollars. This case may just be the tip of the iceberg of his "online career."
In May 2021, Interpol issued a red notice for She Zhijiang, and he was finally arrested by Thai police in August 2022. There are reports that She Zhijiang may be extradited back to China this year to face trial.
