Netizen submission: Moved to Thailand for "jungle work," reported while working at Starbucks, and deported with a DTV?

Netizen submission:

I can't stop laughing! My friend was working on his laptop at a Starbucks in Thailand and then got photographed by a local, who reported him and got him deported?

He was on a DTV visa (a type of work visa that allows for a long stay in Thailand). I had advised him against working at Starbucks, but he wouldn't listen. He said staying at home alone would make him depressed, and going to Starbucks would also allow him to check out some girls.

Well, now he's caught the attention of the locals, got photographed and reported, and even with a DTV visa, he was still deported!

Remote work is fine, but he was involved in remote gambling business, which isn't even legal in Thailand yet! And to do that in such a crowded place like Starbucks, I really don't know what he was thinking.
