Major General Worapong Kanluan, commander of the 5th Division of the Chiang Mai Police's Cybercrime Suppression Unit, led a team to conduct raids on three locations related to the international gambling network Beta, following court orders. Due to the criminals' "distributed office" work nature, the raids were conducted separately, each breaking through different locations.
The first raid took place in a luxury apartment on Nimmanhemin Road, Soi 8, Suthep Subdistrict, Chiang Mai Province, where police arrested six suspects, including Mr. Ye, a 31-year-old from Taiwan, China, and five Thai nationals.
At the scene, police seized five computers and five mobile phones as evidence.
The second raid occurred in Room 708 of a luxury apartment on Rajchapruk Road, Chang Puak District, Chiang Mai Province, where police arrested eight suspects, including Ms. Huang, a 24-year-old from Taiwan, China, and seized nine computers and eighteen mobile phones.
The third raid took place in an apartment building on Huay Kaew Road, Suthep Subdistrict, Chiang Mai Province, where police arrested five suspects, including a woman from Myanmar and four Thai nationals.
Police also confiscated five computers as evidence.
According to the suspects, they worked for the online gambling platform Beta, which serves gamblers from Thailand, mainland China, and Taiwan, China, with over 100,000 members and a monthly turnover exceeding 10 million Thai Baht.
This time, the Thai police raided the Chinese online gambling base in Chiang Mai, arresting a total of 19 people, and legal proceedings will be initiated!
Currently, authorities are expanding their investigation to arrest Mr. Kimmy and other involved parties, aiming to completely dismantle this network of gambling crime. The Chiang Mai police stated that they will continue to intensify their efforts to crack down on illegal activities such as gambling, in order to maintain social order and stability.
