The Colombian gaming regulator launched the campaign called "Take control, play it safe".
Colombia.- Through Resolution 22.654 of 2024, Coljuegos established the guidelines on responsible gaming that operators at the national level must implement, in order to "educate and raise awareness among players, prevent risk behaviors, and provide support to those facing problems related to losing control over betting".
In this regard, Marco Emilio Hincapié, president of Coljuegos, said: "These guidelines make control over responsible gaming more rigorous. We are asking operators to implement campaigns that inform bettors about the risks associated with compulsive gambling".
According to the resolution, operators must continuously monitor and update the adopted strategies to ensure their effectiveness and implementation. Moreover, these strategies must contain specific objectives, schedules of activities, and relevant information related to the actions to be developed.
Similarly, the measure promoted by Coljuegos establishes that, depending on the type of game, bettors can voluntarily access tools such as the risk factor identification test, which allows recognizing patterns that might require the adoption of preventive measures against compulsive gambling.
"For the case of innovative games offered online, including Baloto, SuperAstro, and internet-operated games, we are asking operators to make available the self-exclusion process, with the aim that users can be voluntarily blocked when they exhibit risk behaviors", said Hincapié.
It was also reported that operators must submit an annual report detailing the actions taken, compliance indicators, and the results achieved. Additionally, Coljuegos will conduct audits, supervision visits, and may require additional information at any time to evaluate the effectiveness of the programs.

As part of the strategies to promote responsible gaming, Coljuegos launched the campaign called "Take control, play it safe", which includes a microsite where players can access the mentioned risk factor identification test.
Also, on the microsite, they can find a directory of IPS that offer guidance and mental health care, with the purpose of facilitating contact and allowing players to voluntarily access these types of services when they consider it necessary.
