In an interview with InfoMoney, the Secretary of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance (SPA), Regis Dudena, anticipated that the list of all brands authorized to operate in the Brazilian market from 2025 should be announced in the last fortnight of December. Just a few weeks before the year that marks the regularization of the sector, the SPA has already started sending the first positive notifications to companies, but has not yet sent the negative ones.
The responses have already begun to be fired in a notice published in the Official Gazette for companies that made their requests by August, a deadline set by the Ministry for those who wanted to start operating regularly by 2025.
“The companies that applied in this first batch have already begun to be notified”, says Secretary of Prizes and Betting of the Ministry of Finance, Regis Dudena in an interview with InfoMoney.
As established by the ordinances published over the year, from this notification the companies have a deadline to meet the final requirements. These are mainly financial compliance issues, such as the integration of capital of R$ 30 million, payment of grant and constitution of the reserve of R$ 5 million.
“So far we have only notified those [bets] that have met all the requirements, so those that have not yet complied, have not been notified”, Dudena reports.
“We are evaluating those that, in fact, will simply be denied because they did not meet the requirements and those that may need to make some supplement”.
For now, the secretariat does not disclose how many notifications have been fired.
As soon as the government checks all the declaratory documents of the origin of the resources for compliance with the adjustments, it will publish the complete list of companies authorized to operate from 2025.
According to Dudena, who was at an event of the CBF Academy in São Paulo this week, the profile of companies that requested authorization more promptly is different from later batches, which impacted the flow. “We noticed that there is a certain difference in the quality of the initial requests compared to those that came later, but all requests have to be analyzed in detail”.
There were more than 300 requests sent, and not all came by the August deadline. Companies that already operate in Brazil and missed the deadline will have to stop offering bets at the beginning of next year and wait for their authorization to come out.
Starting in January, the Secretariat has a three-year period to analyze the results of the regulation and its effects. “If necessary, we can anticipate, but the expectation is that this cycle will take place within the planned horizon”, said Dudena.
