The Cambodian Immigration Department recently dispatched 21 officials to inspect foreigners living and working in Phnom Penh and Pursat Province.
It is reported that these 21 officials were divided into 5 groups to inspect foreigners in areas such as Iron Bridge Head and the outskirts of Reaksi.
Previously, the Deputy Director of the National Police and the Chief of Phnom Penh Police, Zunna Lin, instructed immigration police and police from all 14 districts of Phnom Penh to strengthen inspections of foreigners and coordinate with relevant departments.
He stated that strengthening the management of foreigners is one of the necessary tasks to maintain social stability. Police must fulfill their duties, comprehensively grasp the accurate data and situations of foreigners in various parts of Phnom Penh, update it regularly, and intensify inspections of factories, enterprises, hotels, apartments, and residential areas for illegal residency of foreigners.
According to the report from the General Department of Immigration, from 2014 to the end of 2023, Cambodia has deported 27,331 foreigners (from 107 countries and regions), with the majority being Vietnamese.
