The Deputy Minister of the Interior of Malaysia, Sivasan Anuya, stated that the Ministry plans to expand the QR Code scanning clearance measures to Kuala Lumpur International Airport and other entry and exit checkpoints.
He noted that the measure has been first implemented at the Johor Causeway's Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB), and has achieved good results, significantly improving the efficiency of the entry and exit processes.
"In addition to the existing 1,568 autogates nationwide, the Ministry is studying the addition of QR Code scanning devices to significantly reduce the waiting time at immigration checkpoints, providing passengers with a smoother clearance experience," said Sivasan Anuya.
Sivasan Anuya made these remarks during the question and answer session in the House of Representatives, responding to a question from the Democratic Action Party's Sunset Cave constituency MP, Lai Er.
He added that while using the autogates, the clearance process usually takes 10 to 30 minutes, but with QR Code scanning, the entire process can be completed in just a few seconds, greatly enhancing the efficiency of clearance.
