Authorities of the IPLyC from Buenos Aires announced the launch of a new tool that will assist in protecting players.

Argentina.- The president of the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC Buenos Aires), Gonzalo Atanasof; along with the Compliance Officer of the Anti-Money Laundering Prevention Office of the Agency, Mariana Uría; presented the Buenos Aires Lottery Code of Conduct.

There, the guidelines for professional and personal behavior that agents, officials, employees, and managerial staff must respect to comply with the current administrative regulations of the UIF (Financial Information Unit), the BCRA, and the own criminal legislation related to money laundering are established.

“As every state agency, we have a special responsibility towards the citizens and we must act with integrity and transparency,” affirmed Atanasof and added: “with this Code, we generate the guidelines for professional and personal behavior that all of us who belong to the Institute must respect”.

It is worth noting that, in 2023, the Financial Information Unit (UIF) issued Resolution No. 194/2023, which established the obligation for agencies that exploit and manage gambling, to enact their own Code of Conduct in matters of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing.

“After its presentation, a stage of internal training will begin with each of the areas that make up the Institute,” the entity assured and added: “The implementation of this Code of Conduct not only ensures compliance with current regulations on crime prevention but also establishes a standard of responsibility and trust essential for the management of the agency”.

The government of the Province of Buenos Aires, through the Decree 2776/24 officialized in November the agreement between the Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos (IPLyC) from Buenos Aires with the State Lottery of Paraná (Lottopar), from Brazil.

The collaboration agreement establishes that the lotteries may exchange data and information for the «prevention, blocking, and combat of illegal gambling operators«. It also outlines the execution of actions for the structuring and management of gambling, focusing on illegal gambling. Additionally, projects, activities, and/or events of mutual interest for this purpose will be carried out. The agreement has a duration of 24 months and does not involve any transfer of resources between the parties.
