A iugu, a company that operates with technology in payment systems for the betting sector, has structured an internal cell to fully meet the needs of the segment. In an exclusive interview with GMB, Fellipe Novoa dos Santos, customer success manager, says that as a direct participant of Pix and authorized by the Central Bank, it must follow all the rules to offer a secure infrastructure to operators and an excellent experience to the end user.

As a direct participant of the Central Bank, iugu offers a very advanced Pix infrastructure. Today, our infrastructure is among the fastest in the market in terms of response time. From the creation of a QR Code to the execution of a cashout, the Pix Out that the bettor can make, happens on average in less than 300 milliseconds. And our ability to scale an infrastructure to handle large volumes, which is a segment with a very large volume of requests, we can scale this automatically, in any market movement, whether in a gaming session or betting. We manage to scale and maintain the same performance for our customers.
Is one of the backbones for the success of a business in iGaming precisely a very quick response to improve more and more the end user's experience? Is that what you deliver to operators and, obviously, to the bettor?
Yes. We say that the payment medium, the payment system, and the IF, is not just a supplier, it is a business partner for this segment. So, as you said, the customer experience is very linked to this experience of paying by QR Code to have the balance and make the bet and also at the time of withdrawing the prize.
The bettor wants this to happen very quickly, even to give credibility to that bet. So, iugu provides this as one of the best solutions in the market. In addition, we add technology value with other solutions. We have implemented many solutions for our betting clients, so that they can have better compliance with the new regulation. Let me give you an example: we can validate for our clients that the bettor is the same as the CPF presented and that the person paying for the bet is the same, and also, at the time of paying the prize, we validate that the destination account belongs to the same CPF. This brings more security to our clients in the betting sector.
Everything appropriate and meeting government requirements?
Exactly. As I said, we are direct participants of Pix, authorized by the Central Bank, with all the layers of security, compliance, and prevention that are necessary for an institution like ours.
Because there can be no failure, otherwise you lose the license from the Central Bank?
Exactly. We have a very large obligation to the Central Bank, and we make numerous reports to show this whole process transparently, not only to our clients but also to the Central Bank.
Was there concern when the regulation was being designed, whether iugu would be able to meet the requirements or not?
We followed this closely. It was a very rapid change in the market, especially with the last ordinance of September 17. It was a very big change, and we quickly updated ourselves about it. Since October 1st, iugu only operates with authorized companies and on the list of the Betting Management System (Sigap).
What are iugu's plans for 2025, now with the regulated market and how to grow even more in the betting sector?
At iugu, we have a cell dedicated to the betting market. We have a multifunctional team, with several people from various areas, from legal to the prevention, compliance, commercial, and customer success teams. We have a dedicated structure to follow this betting market and propose improvements. We already have some product roadmaps and solutions dedicated to this market. Our intention is to be increasingly a partner for these companies. The market is constantly changing, so we want to offer as many solutions as we can to help these companies improve the customer experience and also be in compliance with the regulation. We will work with a lot of focus to serve this very important audience for us.
