The head of the Secretary of Awards and Betting, Regis Dudena, was also summoned to explain the effectiveness and scope of the current regulatory policies and control mechanisms for betting.
Brazil.- Members of the Parliamentary Commission of Investigation (CPI) on Betting will hear three testimonies tomorrow, December 3, one as a guest to provide information and knowledge and the other two as investigated parties.
According to Agência Senado, the first to be heard will be the Secretary of Awards and Betting, Regis Dudena, invited by the commission as an expert, to talk about the current regulatory policies and control mechanisms for betting.
The goal of the senators is for Dudena to clarify how the government is facing the explosion of the betting market and whether the current measures are sufficient to protect consumers and the integrity of the market. The invitation requests come from the commission's rapporteur, Soraya Thronicke, and Senator Izalci Lucas.
As an investigated party, the CPI also required the presence of Marcus da Silva, director of the Entain group, owner of the betting website Sportingbet. In the citation request, the rapporteur, Senator Soraya Thronicke states that his presence at the commission is justified by the relevance of the company in the sports betting market. For her, the hearing is seen as essential for the advancement of the investigations, providing information about the operation of Sportingbet and its compliance with Brazilian laws.

Also as an investigated party, the commission will hear from João Studart, executive director of Betnacional, another betting house. According to Thronicke, the company moves large sums of resources and there are indications that the lack of strict control over these operations may facilitate money laundering schemes.
