Darts prodigy Leighton Bennett has been banned from darts competitions for eight years for match-fixing.
Bennett was found guilty by the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) of fixing four matches and was subsequently given a long-term ban.
The 18-year-old, who won the BDO World Youth Championship in 2019, was also found guilty of failing to cooperate with the investigation and signing a contract with an unregistered agent.
Bennett must also pay a fine of £8,100. He must appeal against the findings of the DRA disciplinary committee by December 14.
Billy Wariner has also been charged by the DRA with match-fixing and has been banned from the sport for ten years. "Modus Super Series tirelessly works to ensure the integrity of our events, the integrity of all participants, and the protection of the sport of darts."
In the findings released by the DRA, Wariner admitted he had contacted Bennett to fix matches in order to pay off his growing gambling debts.
"I felt I had no choice," Wariner told the DRA.
