The director of the Immigration Bureau of Sa Kaeo Province, Thailand, Napapon, received coordination from the Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and repatriated four Thai nationals, three men and one woman, who were deceived into working for a Chinese telecom fraud gang in Cambodia.
Upon receiving the notification, Napapon coordinated with the chief of the Khlong Luek Police Station in Sa Kaeo Province and others to go to the border crossing to pick up the aforementioned four individuals and took them to the checkpoint for relevant procedures before entering the country.
After inquiries, it was learned that all four had obtained job information from Facebook job groups, claiming it was an online type of job with good remuneration, and thus they went to contact for the job and traveled from the province to Cambodia in October this year.
They further stated that upon arriving at the market in Aranyaprathet, they were led by Cambodians through natural passages to smuggle out of the country. It was only after arriving that they realized they had been deceived; they were forced to engage in telecom fraud, and if they resisted, they would be beaten and abused by the Chinese gang, thus they secretly united to escape together.
Afterwards, they contacted the Thai Embassy and were eventually successfully rescued, expressing happiness and feeling as if they had been reborn.
